“But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold. My feet have closely followed his steps; I have kept to his way without turning aside.” Job 23:10-11

“I will come forth as gold” is a phrase that indicates that Job believes a trial would prove him innocent, as pure as smelted gold. Where his friend Eliphaz earlier called on Job to regard God as more precious than gold, here Job confesses his belief that God will regard him likewise.

Job’s use of the metaphor about gold to express his assurance of being found pure from guilt was a clear rebuttal of his friend Eliphaz’s earlier accusation. When Job asserts that he has kept God’s way, he rejected Eliphaz’s accusation that he has kept the way of the wicked.

Job simply maintains that he has lived faithfully.

Blessings on your day…
