“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.” 1 John 1:7

The word “walk” is a common term that can describe one’s life or way of life.

“Walk in the light” is to live openly and honestly, without covering up our behavior, since we confess our sins to God daily. Although we are sinners and still have sinful and selfish thoughts, words, and deeds, we do not dwell on such thoughts. We do not cultivate such words or perpetuate such deeds. Note that John did not say “according” to the light, which would demand sinless perfection

“As He is in the light” refers to Jesus living and doing all things according to the truth … the Word of God.

“Fellowship with one another” indicates that believers have a common share in Christ (His life, death, resurrection, and ascension), which brings forgiveness and grace equally and blessedly to each. When a Christian’s conduct reflects God’s moral character, then real fellowship is possible with other Christians.

“The blood of Jesus … purifies us from all sin” means only Christ’s blood could atone and has atoned for the sin of the world, making it possible for imperfect believers to have fellowship with a holy God. For those who confess their sins, God is always faithful to His promise to forgive. This is just and right because of His Son, who has paid the price for our sins.

God’s blessings on your day…
