“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” Colossians 3:17
“Whatever you do” indicates that there is no division between the sacred and the secular. We should commit everything we do or say to Jesus and continually thank God for all His good gifts concerning what a Christian says and does. In other words, Christ should accompany us in all facets of life.
“Giving thanks” … Paul has now mentioned thankfulness three times in three verses.
What is the good life? Prosperity, popularity, pleasure? No, it is the life we receive from Jesus, including gifts that we cannot make or purchase: forgiveness, love, peace, and thankfulness. Jesus’ life fills us with virtues rather than vices and enables us to be a blessing to others.
God’s blessings on your day…
