“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.” Colossians 3:12
God calls all people to salvation; those who enter into a saving relationship with Christ are saved and form the elect from the foundation of the world. They become God’s own special people just as Israel was so designated by God in the Old Testament.
As God is holy, we who are loved by God must be holy and clothe ourselves with His characteristics. These virtues are not ours but are gifts provided by God for us. They are Christ’s virtues and God wants us to become Christ-like.
Exploitation of others was the old way of life; the new way of life must be characterized by service to others using these virtues.
