“Who can hide in secret places so that I cannot see them?” declares the Lord. “Do not I fill heaven and earth?” declares the Lord.” Jeremiah 23:24
In this section of Jeremiah God condemns the spiritual leaders of Judah for misleading His people. They should have warned sinners of the impending judgment, but they did not, allowing the people to slide into idolatry and immorality. Nothing can be hidden from God; nothing goes unnoticed. Thus, one more reason for us to always fear the Lord.
The Law is to be preached to unrepentant sinners in all generations, no matter how painful it may be, so that people are not deceived. Then, after they are convicted by the Law, we must follow up with the Gospel to bring light and life through faith in Jesus Christ. Only through faith in Christ can one know true and lasting joy.
