“What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul?” Romans 8:36
God’s people (in Rome and throughout the early church) were troubled, almost to despair, by the suffering they endured – a temptation familiar to us today to a much lesser degree of severity. When following Christ brings distress, we sometimes distance ourselves from Him, but Christ never draws back from us.
Life’s trials and difficulties not only do not separate us from Christ’s love; they make us stronger in our faith by forcing us to depend even more on God. Christ’s death, resurrection, and exaltation at God’s right hand guarantees our victory over anything and everything that would separate us from His love.
God’s blessings on your day…
