“As a father has compassion on his children, so the Lord has compassion on those who fear (honor, respect, love) Him.” Psalm 103:13
How many times do we need God’s forgiveness? It’s impossible to count. Day after day, our sins should bring His anger. But over and over again, He removes our sins. Where are they sent? To the cross, where Jesus takes the anger and gives us His compassion through His forgiveness instead.
God cares for His people as a good father cares for his children. Family imagery certainly adds warmth to this picture of God’s forgiveness. The fact that God remembers who we are and how He made us is another mark of His mercy, for we are but dust.
