“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age…” Titus 2:11-12

“Grace of God has appeared” means Jesus Christ is the living manifestation of God’s grace. God stepped into this world to create the crucial turning point of salvation for all of humanity.

“Appeared” … twice in this context Paul speaks of Christ’s appearance in history. The first time Christ came in grace to save people from their sins; the second time He will come in glory to reign. Paul reminded Timothy that there is a special crown awaiting “all who have loved his appearing.” (2 Timothy 4:8)

“Offer salvation to all people” means God’s plan of salvation is available for all people … regardless of age, gender, social status, or nationality.

“Say no” is interpreted from a strong Greek verb, which stresses the visible break we need to make with our old, fallen nature. God’s grace enables us to “say no” to sin; we cannot renounce sin and then embrace God by our own strength or initiative.

“Present age” is the time from now until the second coming of Christ.

God’s blessings on your day…
