“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” James 1:5
“Any of you” in James refers to struggling Christians who are being called back to faithfulness by God.
“Wisdom” is the ability to reach and implement proper decisions when facing challenges. The wisdom God gives is not necessarily information on how to get out of trouble but rather insight on how to learn from one’s difficulties. It is not more information about how to avoid times of testing but instead a new perspective on trials. The wisdom of God begins with a genuine reverence for the Almighty, and a steadfast confidence that God is in control of all circumstances, guiding them to His good purposes.
“Without finding fault” … God gives generously to all who ask in faith, whatever their past.
