“For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.” 2 Timothy 1:7

The Apostle Paul is apparently addressing Timothy’s lack of confidence in using his spiritual gifts, which form his pastoral aptitude.

The Holy Spirit is the One who gives each of us spiritual gifts and empowers us to use them. God’s Spirit does not impart fear or cowardice, but power, love, and a sound mind, or “self-discipline.” The Spirit imparts power for the various circumstances of ministry, such as serving others. The love the Spirit gives to us should be directed toward other individuals. Furthermore, as we use our spiritual gifts to build up the church, we should exercise self-discipline and use our abilities only at the appropriate times.

Blessings on your day…
