“For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.” Psalm 149:4
“His people” refers to the redeemed who have been made God’s people by His grace. The Hebrew word for grace is related to the term meaning “loyal love”. “His people” are those who demonstrate in their lives the characteristics of God whom they serve.
Throughout this Psalm, joyous praises of God are interrupted by invocations for God’s vengeance, punishment, or judgment. And yet, despite God’s judgment, He “crowns the humble with victory (salvation)”. Salvation being a free gift, a kind of clothing, and the pleasure the Lord takes in His people is not a result of their works.
God’s blessings on your day…
