“He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” Romans 8:32

Paul answers the rhetorical question in the previous verse with a question. Since God has done the greatest thing, giving His own Son, will He not also freely give us all things?

“Did not spare His own Son” is similar situation to Abraham not withholding his only son as recorded in Genesis 22.

“Gave Him up” in the Greek can be interpreted as “handed over”, as well. Judas, the chief priests, the people of Jerusalem, and Pilate all handed over, betrayed, and delivered Jesus. But here, God delivers Him over to death for us. “God for us” can be understood as a three-word summary of redemptive history.

“How will He not … all things?” is another rhetorical question. Everything belonging to God’s Son now also belongs, by grace, to believers. Believers are truly co-heirs with Christ.

God’s blessings on your day…
