“All your words are true; all your righteous laws are eternal.” Psalm 119:160

In Psalm 119, eight words repeatedly describe God’s Word. Since each term describes God’s Word, Hebrew poetry uses them in parallel lines, complementing one another in meaning. God’s promises give life because of God’s trustworthy nature.

The term “Law” means instruction or direction, including God’s Commandments as well as His proclamation of love and mercy in the Messiah, Jesus. Torah eventually came to describe the Five Books of Moses. The Torah provides God’s instructions and truth, which guide our steps in all situations.

The psalmist could rejoice in the Word of God as one who finds great treasure. The riches of God’s Word only come to those who have disciplined themselves to battle the enemies of time, apathy, and irregularity with regard to the reading and studying of God’s Word.

God’s blessings on your day…
