“Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord, the people he chose for his inheritance.” Psalm 33:12

“Blessed” means to be manifestly happy; those who listen to God’s counsel will be happy.

“Nation” is “the people He chose” for His heritage. Israel was God’s chosen people. The tribes of Israel were each given a portion of the Promised Land, though the priestly clan of the Levites was given God Himself, not land, as their inheritance. Inheritance is an important expression of God’s graciousness in the Old Testament.

God’s “people” are always to put their trust in God alone and not in arms, generals, and national defenses. Through His Word and Spirit, almighty God grants us faith in His Christ and His steadfast love. Thus, He gives us confident hope in our hearts and minds for the certainty of His salvation through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.

God’s blessings on your day…
