“Each of us should please our neighbors for their good, to build them up.” Romans 15:2
Paul calls us to avoid divisive judgmentalism, which is the opposite of peace. Instead, believers must strive to build up others in their faith. We are not to please ourselves at the expense of others. Rather, we are to help our neighbor by doing what will strengthen him spiritually. Christ is the ultimate model for the strong believer. He renounced self-gratification, which allowed Him to live a godly life as a model for us.
