“Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.” 1 Corinthians 13:6-7

Poetically balanced between negative and positive statements. Verse 6 asserts a negative statement with an added positive contrast, followed by four positive statements.

“Does not delight in evil … rejoices with the truth” means that love does not delight in evil in any form, including the fall of a brother or sister. Instead, love delights in all that expresses the Gospel, both in word and action.

“Protects … trusts … hopes … perseveres” are descriptive words that literally means to “support” in a broad sense. Love is the foundation for all acts that please God. Love believes all things in that love never gives up and never loses hope. Love endures any hardship or rejection, revealing its superior strength. In the face of confrontation, love simply continues. To love is the great commandment and no other force promotes righteousness more. “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.” (John 13:34-35,)

God’s blessings on your day…
