“Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.” Psalm 37:4
Do not fret is the theme of this psalm. When the wicked seem to prosper, the psalmist calls for patience, a renewed sense of dependence on the Lord, and a new sense of pleasure in knowing Him.
Early church author Augustine said. “Distinguish the ‘desires of your heart’ from the desires of your flesh; distinguish as much as you can. God wishes to give you everything exceedingly and abundantly according to your heart’s desire. He who despises and casts this promise to the winds is not worthy ever to hear a word about God”.
“The desires of your heart” means when the righteous have desires that spring from the Lord, the Lord will surely fulfill those desires.
God’s blessings on your day…
