“For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.” Romans 12:4-5

The Greek word we interpret as “member” can also be interpreted as limb or part of the body. This verse uses both meanings of this Greek word. The Apostle Paul states this same teaching in 1 Corinthians 12:13.

As the human body is a unity with many members, each having its own function, so is the body of Christ. The church is a unified body under the headship of Christ, but the members each have different functions.

Consequently, members of Christ’s body are never alone. We have been joined eternally to Him, as well as to one another.

God’s blessings on your day…
