“This is what the Lord says, he who made the earth, the Lord who formed it and established it—the Lord is his name: ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’” Jeremiah 33:2-3
Jeremiah appealed to God’s power in creation as the basis for his proclamation about the coming demonstration of power in the restoration of Israel.
God revealed the special name “Lord”. Israel was to use this name in worship and teaching. This name is pronounced “Yahweh” (YAH-way). “I am who I am,” pronounced Yahweh, and known as “Lord” was God’s special name, which Israel was to keep holy by calling on it in prayer and in praise.
“Great and unsearchable things” means prophecies of judgment and restoration that only God would know.
