“However, I consider my life worth nothing to me; my only aim is to finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me—the task of testifying to the good news of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24

This verse is part of Paul’s farewell address to the church leaders of Ephesus and he is emphasizing the significance of the work of the ministry. Paul uses race terminology “(finish the race”) to describe his ministry. Christ Himself made Paul an apostle and gave him his ministry to testify to the good news of God’s grace.

As people, we are often inclined more toward receiving than giving. Yet, Jesus has given – and still gives – temporal and eternal blessings, so we likewise are to give of ourselves to others. Yet, we can never out-give our generous Savior.

Bottom line – Paul no longer desired to hold on to his life. He sought only the furtherance of God’s kingdom and the honor of Christ, no matter what the earthly cost.

God’s blessings on your day…
