“For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life!” Romans 5:10

“Enemies” is a candid assessment of sin. We were completely opposed to God.

“Reconciled” means a personal, loving relationship between God and people has been restored by Christ. All people are alienated and cut off from God because of sin and rebellion. Christ’s death on the cross bridges that eternal gap by paying sinful humanity’s just punishment. Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection not only redeemed us but also restored us to fellowship with Him.

“Saved through His life” means Christ’s resurrection brings us salvation. The word “save” means to rescue or deliver.

We naturally seek to avoid pain and suffering. Yet, there are times when suffering is unavoidable. Focused on Christ’s suffering, death, and resurrection, we know that suffering is not the whole story. God will use afflictions for our good and to bless others. He will keep His promises, and we will overcome our sufferings by faith.

Blessings on your day…
