“Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful.” Colossians 3:15
The term “rule” means to act as an umpire. Hence, the peace of Christ should be the arbiter of all choices and decisions in life.
The “peace of Christ” rules in our hearts when we are completely surrendered to God’s will, and thus our whole being is unified in obedience to Him. Christ’s reconciling work makes this surrender possible.
So then, what is the good life? Prosperity, popularity, pleasure? No, it is the life we receive from Jesus, including gifts that we cannot make or purchase: forgiveness, love, peace, and thankfulness. Jesus’ life fills us with virtues rather than vices and enables us to be a blessing rather than a bane to others.
God’s blessing on your day…
