“This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know that we have what we asked of him.” 1 John 5:14-15

“Confidence in approaching God” produces assurance in prayer and an active concern for the salvation of all others, who are sinners as well.

“According to His will” means essentially that when we do not always know what to ask, we know God’s will is always for our salvation and for the salvation of all.

Knowing that we have eternal life in Jesus gives us confidence to ask for anything, and we can be certain that we shall receive what we ask according to God’s will, especially when we pray for others for Jesus’ sake. Not only can we be confident of our own forgiveness in Jesus Christ, but we can also pray even for others who sin and be certain that God also desires their repentance and life because of Jesus. The key to knowing that God hears our prayers is to pray according to His will.

God’s blessings on your day…
